Finding time to take care of your skin as a new mom is a big challenge, but it’s essential that you try. A happy mom makes for a happy baby and you should never feel guilty about taking a couple of minutes for yourself to get ready in the morning.
Lack of sleep when caring for a baby can take a toll on your skin. It’s easy for new moms to neglect their skin -- but taking a few minutes a day for your skincare routine can make a big difference. I make sure to cleanse and moisturize daily, no matter what I have going on, to be kind to my skin.
Plus, these new mom beauty tips can apply to anyone with a busy or demanding schedule.
If you only have one minute a day for skincare (and trust me, every new mom has been there): Use a Makeup Wipe.
Taking off your makeup before bed even if you’re too tired to wash your face can help keep your pores clear of debris and can also help exfoliate your skin.
Of course a full skincare routine is preferable to just using a wipe but in a pinch, this is the one step you shouldn’t skip. A great makeup wipe (like Simple Skincare Radiance Cleansing Wipes) will cleanse your skin, remove impurities and won’t irritate or dry out even sensitive skin.
If you have five minutes: Try a Bold Lip.
Playing up your lips is a trusty new mom trick. A pop of color on your pout will distract from the pesky under-eye circles you might be struggling with! Don’t bother with lip liner, just pick a long-lasting shade and cover it with a clear gloss.
A ponytail is terrific for keeping those little chubby fingers out of your hair, but do you know what’s even cuter? A braid! A braided up-do (pictured above) takes less than fifteen minutes and keeps your hair out of your face all day long.
Start with air-dried hair, pull it into a high ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Braid the ponytail, and then pull out some pieces for a chic messy look. Gently remove the elastic and bobby pin the braid securely along your crown.
