This blog started as a place for me to share recipes with family and friends in October 2007, and after over two years of spending most of my free time working on this site, it’s grown into much more.  I think of it as my little home on the internet, and accordingly, Sugarlaws has expanded to cover my two true loves: food, and, of course, fashion.

My home off the internet, fortunately enough, is Manhattan. So I’m lucky to be in the center of one of the most fashion- and food-forward cities in the world!

You might be looking at this page because you’ve just stumbled into this site for the first time, or because you’ve been a loyal reader or subscriber for years.  Either way, look around, check out some of the archived recipes here, and style posts here.  And if you like what you see, or you want to get in touch, drop me a line by clicking here.

Welcome to Sugarlaws.  Enjoy!

Umm… unless that’s your father-in-law, that is super creepy!
I’m wondering who does your photography. Are you a professional model? All of your shots are really well-done and look like the come from a catalogue.

I really enjoy your site. Came across it by doing a random search for a recipe… Your love for food and fashion is similar to mine and your blog does a great combination of both! Keep it up:)

Hey all! Sorry I haven’t had a chance to respond to these. I am definitely not a professional model, just a regular person! And my camera is a Canon Rebel XTI, with a F2.8 50mm lens. I use the same camera and lens for both the food and the style posts, so they’re definitely versatile!

(also, um, sorry, I am already married!)

Hey what is it your holding in your hand in nearly every picture? It seems strange!

  • 19 Katy // Jul 21, 2010 at 12:28 pm

Hey Maria — In a lot of my photos (before I had Kristen as my amazing photographer) I was using a remote for my camera — that’s what I’m holding in the ones above!
