Have you guys been poring over the pictures coming in from Coachella like I have?  It looks like such a blast, I’m dying to go next year!  I love seeing everyone in their low-key, music festival-wear — it’s such a change from all the polish and glam of NYFW!

Even though I’m not going to California this year, I thought I’d do a post on a music-festival-inspired beauty look!  These tips work just as easily for a concert that’s near home — Chad and I are headed to an awesome two-day festival in Houston in June, so I’ll be getting a chance to try out fun outdoor looks.

For this look, I kept everything about my makeup minimal — I hardly used any foundation, but covered up any unevenness in my skintone by mixing Cle de Peau concealer with Simple Skincare Vital Vitamin Day Cream moisturizer (which has the added bonus of SPF 15 — if you’re going to be outdoors all day, be sure to add a hat and reapply frequently)!  That’s my favorite trick for a minimal makeup day — you get the almost all the benefits of foundation without any greasy feeling by evening.

For my eyes, I used Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess palette (a favorite of mine since back in NY!) And for lips, I left them super simple — nobody wants to be reapplying lipstick all day long when you’re outdoors without a mirror!  I used Nivea Kiss of Shimmer chapstick with SPF 10 — another drugstore favorite that’s perfect for long summer days!

what’s in my bag?

I’m always SO excited when other bloggers do a “What’s In My Bag” post — I seriously can’t believe that I’ve never done one!  It’s probably partly because I tend to accumulate so many receipts, wrappers, and other miscellaneous junk that my bag is more of a “Proceed With Caution” zone than anything I’d like to put up in photos on Sugarlaws!  But the other day, my bag was actually contained all my essentials without a whole bunch of junk, and I figured I’d take a few photos!  Obviously, there’s still a little bit of excess here (four lipsticks! oops!) and I do tend to carry around too much random jewelry (who knew?) but overall, these are my day-to-day essentials!

So what are they?  Obviously, the staples like my wallet, car keys and iPhone are crucial — I basically never leave our house without these three!  The wallet is Longchamp from a zillion years ago — since no one ever sees it, I never change it up!  Then I have a few other crucial additions — prescription sunglasses, business cards, and I usually have some sort of a snack on me at all times (lately I’ve been partial to these organic goldfish crackers from Whole Foods)!

Then, the makeup — this is where I tend to go a little nuts!  I basically always have at least three lipsticks, but four is pushing it, even for me.  The ones I’m currently obsessed with are Estee Lauder’s Pinkadelic from the Mad Men collection (this might be my absolute fave!), Chanel lipstick in Romance, Dior lipstick in Must-Have, and Beauty For Real lip gloss in Kiss Me.  Love them all!

And I always carry Simple Skincare makeup wipes — they’re the best way to get rid of daytime grime if you don’t have time to redo all your makeup for a night out!  Finally, I love carrying a fragrance “pencil” rather than a bottle of perfume — no risk of it spilling all over my bag!  That happened to me once in high school and I NEVER got the smell out of that handbag.  Sad!  I love the ones Mark. makes — this one is Very Sassy!

And, of course, jewelry — these Kendra Scott earrings have been huge staples for me, and I love these initial necklaces that I picked up in Miami during the Cotton runway show!  I’ve also been using ribbon hair ties rather than elastics — they’re so pretty and gentler on your hair!  These are from Sephora here.

Last but not least, an old New York trick: I always try to keep a pair of flats on hand!  Little ones that roll up into your bag (like these Tieks!) are perfect for quick errands or just letting you park a little further away from where you’re going — it’s a quick trick to get a little time outdoors and exercise!

What are your daily must-haves?

I’ve been using Simple Skincare‘s products for over a year now, so I was incredibly excited when they announced five new products that hit stores in 2013!  I don’t change up my skincare routine often, but these fit seamlessly into my routine.  They were especially crucial during Fashion Week, when I was inevitably too exhausted to even consider taking off my makeup at night — there’s nothing like a package of makeup wipes to make you think to yourself, “Just do it.  It’ll take two seconds.”  And bam, you wake up in the morning with a fresh, clear face.

And I’m so excited to give ten winners the entire new product line!  Each winner will receive a package that includes the Foaming Cleanser, Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes, Radiance Cleansing Wipes (my personnal favorite!), Eye Make-Up Remover Pads and Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15.

To enter, just leave a comment below! I’ll announce the winners, chosen randomly, next week!  Good luck!

Update!  The winners are comments #2, 8, 10, 11, 19, 25, 43, 54, 57 and 63!  I’m emailing today for your addresses.
