From the moment your child arrives (or before!), you want nothing but the best for them. A mother’s Wishes for Baby are the hopes and dreams that fill her heart and guide her decisions in shaping her child’s life. I’ve teamed up with Fisher Price for their #WishesforBaby campaign. They’ve partnered with artist Adele Enersen to bring moms’ wishes to life in her stunning images! (You may remember Adele from her beautiful blog, Mila’s Daydreams – if you’re not familiar with it already, she is such an imaginative and talented artist, and obviously an incredible mother too!)
As part of this partnership, I’m sharing a few of my own wishes in hopes of inspiring yours! My first to my son, I hope you learn to appreciate the warmth and beauty of a loving home. Join me in sharing your hopes and dreams for your children using #WishesforBaby!
One of my biggest wishes for our son is that he grow up with a warm and loving home. I spent months choosing every detail for his nursery to create the happy, cozy environment that I wanted our son to experience. From choosing the perfect shade of paint to the wall to picking out my favorite childhood books for his nightstand, the time I spent creating his nursery was filled with the dreams of the many hours we would spend in it, playing games and learning new things.
Because a warm and loving home isn’t about getting everything to look perfect. It’s about creating a space that will be filled with love and memories, where our son would feel free to explore, challenge himself, and discover new interests of his own. For our son, that’s my biggest wish: that no matter what he goes on to do, he’ll remember growing up in a home that was filled with warmth, love, and kindness.

As you guys might remember from this post, I’m taking the LISTERINE® 21 Day Challenge this month! In addition to my regular brushing habit, I’ve been using mouthwash twice a day to amp up my oral care routine and kill the germs that brushing misses. I’m on day 13, which means that my gums are up to five times healthier now than they were when I started. Not too shabby!
And I’ve definitely noticed a difference, just in these few weeks. I’ve always loved that feeling of having a clean mouth right after brushing, but it never seems to last long enough. Sure, my mouth feels clean and fresh right afterwards, but ten or fifteen minutes later, I hardly notice a difference.
That’s actually the biggest change I’ve noticed so far, now that I’m using LISTERINE® Antiseptic. When I brush my teeth and then use mouthwash, that clean feeling lasts a lot longer. It’s a huge difference that really feels great, and I noticed it right away, after the first day or two.
But fresh breath and a healthier mouth isn’t the only goal of the 21 Day Challenge: I’m also receiving organization tips from Peter Walsh, a professional “Clutter Organizer.” Chad is really neat and I’m sort of messy, so organization is something I constantly struggle with. I’ve found his tips to be extremely helpful, and wanted to share a few of my favorites with you guys!
Keep Flat Surfaces Clear: Oh my gosh, this one has changed my life. I have this terrible habit of getting the mail or some papers or magazines or whatever junk seems important to me, and leaving it all on our kitchen counter. This drives my husband insane because our kitchen is the focal point of our home and literally the worst place in the world for clutter. So one day, I went around our house and took all the papers that were randomly piling up on our tables and counters and desks, and sorted through them. Do you know how long it took? Less than an hour. Do you know what a difference it made? An unbelievably huge difference. So thanks, Peter, for helping clear our clutter and also strengthen my marriage!
Spend 5-10 Minutes Every Day: This was another huge one. I tend to let things pile up for weeks, and then clean everything up in one giant effort. And then things are tidy for a day or two, and then they start piling up again, and after a few weeks, I go through the whole cycle all over again. Instead, I’m trying to set aside a few minutes a day to clean out the clutter in a couple of spaces, establishing it as a habit. (Just like mouthwash!) I’m hoping that by the time Day 21 rolls around, this will be a lasting change too.
So, that’s where I am so far! Have you guys been participating in the challenge? What are your favorite tips so far?
If you haven’t signed up yet, you can still do so by clicking here! Once you sign up, you’ll receive daily personalized emails from an expert in fitness, nutrition, or home organization *and* be entered to win some amazing prizes like a Fitbit®, a $100 Container Store® gift card and an Amazon Fire TV! Disclosure: I received LISTERINE® Brand products from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. as part of my participation in the LISTERINE® 21-Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.

Last weekend, I had such a blast hosting a Laundromat Takeover with Gain flings! We treated customers to free laundry and gave them a chance to try out the new Gain flings! laundry pacs — it was so much fun to watch everyone discover how easy Gain flings! were to use and how much scent they packed! (The Laundromat smelled so clean and amazing by the time our event was in full swing!)
I wanted to share a few pictures with you guys, because this was so much fun. First of all, check out our Gain flings! cars! How insanely cool are these? I kept asking about exactly how these cars were made, because, um, I think Sugarlaws needs a branded car. NEEDS, I tell you. In fact, I have no idea how this blog has survived for seven years without one of those.
The event was a blast all around, but my favorite part was hosting a Twitter Chat using the #BestScentEver hashtag. We wanted to hear about everyone’s laundry memories, so I shared mine (cramming in the basement laundry room of my college dorm!) and asked for others. We got this sweet reply from Tweeter ProudLatinaTX, who was one of our winners of a year’s supply of Gain flings!
I love that doing laundry is a necessity and an everyday part of life, but it’s also the source of amazing memories, from growing up to entering adulthood. It’s such a common thing that you hardly even think about it, but sometimes our small, everyday memories are the most special.
The other awesome part of the event was interviewing JJ from 97.9 The Box, one of Houston’s most popular radio stations! I asked about her favorite scents, and she picked Gain’s Moonlight Breeze — because she “always smells it on her clothes, even after a long session at the gym! Moonlight Breeze beats gym smell any day.” I definitely agree.
This was such a fun event and an awesome way to spend a Saturday morning! Thanks so much to Gain flings! for the fun opportunity!
