The first winter I spent in Texas, I didn’t put on a real winter coat the entire time. There were a few days that were pretty uncomfortable (honestly, at some points it was just me being stubborn and trying to prove I could get through winter without one) but for a girl who grew up in the Northeast and braved some freezing, freezing winters, I was in heaven.
Since then, I’ve relaxed my no-coat policy, and nowadays, I get a little excited to break out my wool overcoats the few times a year that they’re necessary. But I’ve also developed a great store of light jackets — the kinds of jackets you can wear indoors or out, whether it’s to brave a chilly day or just some chilly air conditioning. (Which we have a lot of in Texas…)
And this one, which I picked up for New York Fashion Week, is the perfect new addition. I went back and forth a few times before buying it (I texted pictures from the store to my sister and a friend) and now I can’t imagine my closet without it. I love the mix of leather and denim — leather accents are all over this season, from dresses to separates to coats, so I’m always looking for great new pieces to pick up!
