style: snow halo

So, I loved my outfit for the Decade of Style party [1] so much that I figured it deserved a post of its own! One of the things I like the most about fashion is just when you get the basics down, you’re expected to start taking some calculated risks.
Mismatched shoes [2] to the Golden Globes? Um, no thank you.
But a romper in the middle of January? That one, I can work with.
You guys last saw this romper here [3], when I spent a Saturday in the middle of June laying on the floor of the gorgeous Gavin Brown Enterprise gallery. It was a bit of a challenge to make this same piece appropriate for a between-snowstorms February night where your fingers start to get frostbitten if you take off your gloves long enough to use the touchscreen on your iPod (sigh).
I picked up this belt and gorgeous Alexis Bittar bracelet at Intermix on super-sale after Christmas, but the real clincher of this outfit is the stunning bag [4] that Brahmin sent me. My mom took one look at these photos and said that it reminds her of a Prada bag she bought last year, and to me it has that easy, structured Balenciaga feel, without the four-figure price tag.
I know I’m going to be carrying it nonstop during Fashion Week too — because it’s a lot easier to take some fashion risks when you’re perfectly accessorized. Not to mention, it’s big enough to hold my camera, kindle and a spare pair of ballet slippers!
I’m wearing: Black Halo romper, gifted Brahmin handbag [4], BCBG necklace, Intermix belt, Alexis Bittar bracelet [5], gifted Charlotte Russe boots.
