under construction

If you’re judging by my pictures, you’d probably think that Houston is full of nothing but abandoned lots, random parks, and the occasional construction site.  In reality, there are plenty of beautiful neighborhoods with perfectly manicured lawns and pristine sidewalks — but somehow for pictures, I always gravitate towards the weird vacant lots.  I’ve come across empty liquor bottles, straight razors and a full nest of bees in my photo-taking adventures (I know, the life of a fashion blogger is pretty glamorous, let me tell you).

This one was particularly appealing, because of the random construction equipment that was sitting around — kind of the perfect contrast to the totally girly pink lace top, right?  This actually came with a nude tank underneath, but I swapped it out for bandeau top just for fun.

Like just about everyone, I’m a little obsessed with braids lately — I went through a phase where every time I was sitting around bored, waiting for brunch or in line at the grocery store, I’d braid these little mini-braids into my hair.  When I started flatironing my hair that fell away a little bit, but now it’s back in full force.  They’re the perfect fun addition to a regular ponytail to make it a little more special!

Weirdly, your outfit kind of goes with the background!  Or maybe it doesn’t, but it looks cool.  Saw these braids on your Instagram this weekend and I was wondering what you were going to pair them with, this is really cute!  (Next time you might want to wrap a little hair around the ponytail holder, just for a more polished look!)

Jess — Arrgh, I know!  I meant to and just totally forgot.  It’s funny what a difference stuff like that makes!  (Or even just a clear elastic!)

Marissa — Thank you!  I actually bought it super on sale back in 2007 for like $600, which was an astronomical amount for me at the time.  It’s a total forever piece though. :-)

There’s something about an outfit looking totally out of place (location-wise) that always makes for the best outfit pictures! It’s funny how that works.

Anyway – I LOVE this outfit! The top is absolutely beautiful on you and I adore your Miu Miu bag!

    Looking gorgeous, as always Katy!

I’m seriously not too familiar with this subject but I do like to go to blogs for layout concepts and intriguing topics. You really described a that I quite often really don’t care very much about and developed coupon codes zappos pretty fascinating. This is a great blog that I’ll take note of. review about advice at our website
