Last week, I had the most amazing time moderating a panel discussion for the Mommie Series! As part of the Mommie Series, several times a year, speakers on fashion, finance, health and family gather to discuss topical issues on the minds of modern moms, and this season, I was thrilled to be part of the discussion.
Being a mom is an incredible privilege, and it’s also a huge challenge. As modern mothers, we face pressure on all sides — from career choices to competing parenting philosophies to crafting modern marriages that are satisfying and fulfilling. So nights like this one are incredibly special — they’re those rare nights out when we get to dress up, sip champagne, and discuss the issues that are important to us. Our night of speakers tackled topics like charitable giving, access to social media for kids, thyroid function, and spring fashion trends. Yup, all of it. That’s why this event is so amazing: one moment you’re talking about the tax advantages of setting up a charitable foundation, the next you’re drooling over white leather for fall.
That’s my kind of night, ladies.
So I wanted to share a few photos from the night with you guys, because it was such a fun, special experience. I was honored to be asked to be part of this session, and can’t wait to be in the audience for many more to come.

I’m in New York right now for an awesome project with Cotton (you know, the commercials featuring the gorgeous celebrities whose style you wish could be just like yours)? I seriously watch those commercials when I’m having a bad day and just start feeling better. If you haven’t seen them, check your ceiling — you’re probably living under a rock somewhere.
But before I left for New York, I attended an amazing fashion show in Houston, attended and overseen by Mark and James, the designers of Badgley Mischka. Not only was the show beautiful, but it also benefitted an amazing cause, Recipe for Success, which teaches kids about nutrition by helping them learn to grow and cook their own food. It’s an amazing fit with the things I care about, and I’m so honored to be on the Host Committee this year!
Thanks to Bethany and Monica, my photographers for these photos, and thanks so much to Recipe for Success making the event so awesome! Can’t wait for the next one already.

Being big dorks in the photobooth at Monday’s Dress For Dinner Kickoff Party!
It was an amazing event that set the tone for an incredible season! Dress For Dinner is an awesome set of fashion shows that all benefit Recipe for Success, a charity that combats childhood obesity by teaching kids about cooking their own fresh, healthy, local and environmentally sustainable food. As you can probably guess, it’s a cause that’s important to me in every way. I was so honored to be asked to be on this year’s host committee, and am so excited for an amazing season!
Thanks SO MUCH to all who came out on Monday — and click here for more details about the fashion shows in October, March and May!
