tutorial: loose side-bun

May 18th, 2011

No, this isn’t my new hair. (Not quite yet!) It’s coming soon enough, but first I wanted to show you guys the tutorials I’d posted before I changed it!

This hairstyle is so easy and cute, and it’s perfect if you’re headed to prom, or just to a summer wedding over the next few months.  I’ve worn it on random weekend nights when I’ve wanted something a little special, and it’s super easy to do on yourself.

Essentially, you just make a twisted bun just below and behind your ear, securing it with hair elastics and bobby pins for strays.  Then take a few stray locks in the front, curl them with a 3/4″ curling iron, spray them with hairspray and comb them out with your fingers.  Done!

Also, I know I had a problem with saying ‘um’ constantly during my earlier videos.  Here, I was trying to concentrate on not saying ‘um,’ which led to me saying ‘you know’ every tenth word.  (And still saying um, too.) Someday I’ll get it right!

So watch the video — and don’t forget to write me if you try it out!

I’m also dying to see the new hair!! 🙂

For the “um” thing, one trick I’ve found super helpful is to try to train yourself to just be silent when you would typically say um (or you know or like, or whatever). At first you’ll have some weird pauses, but soon it will clear up and go smoother.

It looks so pretty, I can’t wait to try it!
Can you tell me what brand of curling iron you use? I’m in the market for a new one and yours looks like it keeps the curl really nicely.
