This entire outfit falls into that elusive category of ‘Things That Look Way More Expensive Than They Are.’
Man, I love that category.
I twittered about this dress twice because I knew it would sell out before I could get it photographed and posted — it cost a whopping $39.99 from the Thakoon for Target line. I’ve been wearing it constantly — I even threw it on for a meeting with a producer last week when I wanted to look confident and professional, but still totally fun. There’s nothing like wearing bright colors to make you feel energetic and excited — I layered a black cardigan on top and was good to go! (Let’s hope the dress brought me some luck!)
These shoes are almost sold out too! (I guess that means I have good taste, right?) These little stunners are by Jessica Simpson and $98 — I know they’re a little bit of a design rip-off, but I think the whole trend of crazy structural details in shoes is likely to be short-lived, and at under $100, I can embrace it without feeling like it’s a major investment. And they are just so cool looking!
The sunglasses are from Forever 21, and I love their totally 80′s vibe — I feel like I should be wearing some leg warmers with them. Which can be arranged.
Thakoon for Target dress, Jessica Simpson Beckery heels, Intermix belt, Forever 21 sunglasses.

Wow, I love things that cost less than $100! And those are such great finds!! What were you meeting with a producer about??
You are part of the inspiration behind my own blog

I love this outfit! When it’s inexpensive & doesn’t look it, that’s even better.
And um… I’m going to need those shoes. Time to go on a manhunt!

I blogged about this dress a couple weeks ago. Glad you were able to snag one. Love the colors.

I bought this dress too despite the fact that the fit was odd. I found the small to be perfect on top but a little snug at the hips, so I went with the medium which was a little too loose for my taste. I’m so glad I got it though becasue it was sold out so quickly and they weren’t getting anymore. Love this dress!!!

Great dress! I too saw this at Target and tried it on, but it did not look this great on me, so I did not purchase! Looks cute on you though! And I LOVE THOSE HEELS. I love the cutouts in the heel and the platform.

I’ve been debating about whether or not I like this dress, but after seeing it on you I think I’m sold! It’s gorgeous and the bold statement colors fit perfectly for spring.

Another awesome outfit! Those shoes are amazing! I might have to copy you with those…
Can you walk in them? The only pair of Jessica Simpson shoes that I own KILL my feet. But they’re old, and I heard she has improved the designs since she first launched the shoe line.

I saw those shoes online and I LOVE them! But are they comfortable?
And I’m all about bold colors, especially since spring refuses to get here already…

Hey – love the dress but just gonna offer my two cents; in your last photo, your belt looks to be gaping. This would mean you have a tiny waist and the belt could be tightened a couple of notches.

Sarah — I’ve only worn them for a few hours at a time and they’ve been fine (or, at least, as fine as can be expected given how high the heels are)! I’ve worn her Dany platforms a lot, and they’re actually pretty comfortable!
Ree — Ooh, it might be! I think it’s probably the way my hands are pushing the belt, but I’ll keep an eye out!
Thanks guys!!!

You are so savvy! I love finding steals, but I’m really not that good at it! Very impressed with your smart shopping skills…

Just tried my first big color block today. Did the same shade of blue with a purple/pink. Love those shoes too!!

Okay.. I gotta ask, do you wear those shoes around town (do they hurt your feet) or is this just for the shoot? I admit I carry a pair of flats wherever I go if I’m in heels.
17 katy // Apr 6, 2011 at 11:28 pm
Ha! No, I always have a pair of flats on hand unless we’re going somewhere really nearby or I’m going somewhere so fancy that I have to wear a clutch (which can’t fit an extra pair)! The two-shoe life is brutal!

I clearly need to live in a city where we don’t walk so much! Oh, to have a car…

This dress caught my eye at Target the other day. Thought it was cute! I picked up a Fuschia/ purplish ankle length I’m hoping to post inspired by The Purple Dress Project this month.
