Sugarlaws: Living Sweetly.

love, love, love it all

I seriously need to move somewhere it’s warm year-round.  Once summer hits, I’m such a happier person — it’s like I’m suddenly in a good mood all the time, and everything just seems so much better.

I bought this top at Zara on Thursday, and I basically wore it nonstop until Saturday night when I spilled something on it when we were out to dinner — not a giant stain, but I’m still working on how to get it out.  I’ve tried a stain pen, and the tag says not to take it to the dry cleaners, so next I’m going to stick it in the washing machine (fingers crossed).

Somehow this inevitably happens every time I find some piece of clothing I totally love, sigh!  I wish I could resist wearing them out to dinner!

On the opposite side of the spectrum is this bag, which I bought for the Emmy Awards last August and have probably only carried once or twice since then!

I keep it wrapped in tissue paper in my closet, because it’s one of the most expensive items I own.  It’s hard when you love something so much you’re afraid to wear it, but at the same time, I’m terrified of anything happening to it!  Hopefully this summer I’ll be able to give it some fun days (or nights) out.

But the thing I really need to discuss in this outfit is the makeup!  This purple smokey eye look is my new absolute favorite — so cute and versatile, not too dark for everyday, but still a little glam.  And purple eyeshadow goes with basically every eye color and skin tone, so it’s a terrific look to try.

I have a tutorial on it coming up, so stay tuned!

PS — This weekend I posted my first haul video on YouTube!  If you’re interested, go check out my finds from Sephora and Zara.  :-)

Zara top, Jimmy Choo clutch, Abercrombie shorts, Rock & Republic heels, Forever 21 bracelet.

    love love love it all…is a great title…becuase I agree…
I love the slouchy fit to the shirt (as you know from my outfit shots, I love a great easy to wear peice)
    I also LOVE your eyeshadow…
And obviously the clutch is a winner…but you need to get over it…and ENJOY IT!  It isn’t worth the money if you don’t wear it often…I felt that way at first with my few pairs of loubs…and then my hubs said…if you don’t wear them, what was the point of the gift? So it can sit in your closet? he had a valid point and I always try to wear my expensive pieces whenever I dress up and head somewhere special.
Hope you have a great week.

I’m sure Chad can you remind you of a little place called Texas that’s warm *most* of the year….

And I hate when I stain something new the first time I wear it!

If its a grease stain, rub some Dawn detergent on it before washing, and throw some Clorex 2 in for good measure.  Let it soak a bit in cold water( I stop the cycle with my washer) and DON’T put it in the dryer.  I’m amazed at the versatility of Dawn.

You look so gorgeous in this post and I love the outfit combination.  My friend Michelle has a stain book, and I seriously consult with her every single time I spill something.  She always has the right remedy…let me know what the stain was, and I’ll ask her what the best approach is!

It’s calamari!  I don’t even like it, but Chad and I were sharing an appetizer and I was staving!  UGH.

I should also say — the shirt says that it’s polyester (high quality Zara fabrics, lol) but it’s kind of shiny/slick, not a cotton-y polyester!

    Thanks Rachel!!!

A few years ago I bought a Bottega Veneta bag, which was probably cost 10 times more than any bag I had purchased before.  I did the same thing, kept it in its packaging and lovingly petted it whenever I saw it.  Finally my own mother said ‘next time I see you, you’d better be using that bag!’.  So I finally made the switch and it makes me so happy every time I use it (which is a lot of the time).  Enjoy!
