Sugarlaws: Living Sweetly.

loose and cool

Last Friday, my friend Kristen and I headed out into the far edges of Brooklyn, to see a play that a friend of mine from college had written. I’m not one of those Manhattan-ites who refuses to go to Brooklyn (at all), but the slight change of scenery gave me a reason to pick out a different outfit than I’d usually go for.

It was also about 85 degrees, so this loose, comfy Madewell top and jean shorts were basically a given.  The ponytail was just because I was experimenting, but isn’t it kind of fun?  And I stalked these shoes at Zara for about a week before I finally found them in my size — and now I refuse to take them off, because they’re gorgeous and shockingly comfortable.

And to prove how much I love this look, I basically wore it the whole rest of the weekend.  When summer finally hits, all I want are easy, stylish basics for casual parties, shopping, running errands, snuggling at home with the pups — this could work for any of it.  Call me in September, because I might be ready to take a day off from this style.

Madewell top, gifted Foley & Corinna Jet Set tote, Zara heels, Abercrombie shorts (I should stop admitting this and start saying they’re ‘vintage’), Forever 21 sunglasses.

Great look! It’s fun to get out of your natural space every now and then and experiment with new fashion.

And I’m glad you were able to find the shoes! They really are incredibly cute, even though the search for them was quite the ordeal (and I do remember your tweet about your phone calls with Zara!)

I know!  I really didn’t want to buy them in protest, but I found them at another store on Friday afternoon and just couldn’t resist.

Love the shoes….although the size still looks a little large to me

I’ve definitely worn something before and claimed it was vintage because I was embarassed about the actual label. Glad to hear I’m not the only one!

This outfit is perfect, though! No need to hide the label.

I know!  They don’t make a size 37.5, so I had to go with a size 38 and they’re definitely a little too big!  That’s part of what makes them so comfy though!

I know!  I’m honest to a fault — I’d be so much cooler if I just didn’t admit it! :-)

I thought of you yesterday in Boston when I was having a terrible hair day — you always know how to style your hair so it looks cute — even if it’s super casual like this!

I love how your style changes when you head to BK too!

Rachel — Ha!  I know.  This was a particularly hipster-y part of Brooklyn. :-) But let’s be serious, I’ll take any excuse to change up my style a little!
