The funny thing about favorite pieces: sometimes you buy them thinking they’re just regular pieces.  And then for whatever reason, they’re so comfortable or so flattering or so perfectly your style, you just can’t seem to stop wearing them.

This tank top is $11.  Yes, I’m serious — I bought it to wear on the day of our move to the new house (because, I mean, who doesn’t buy brand new clothes to move boxes in Texas summer heat in?) but I wear it probably once a week.

And these shoes?  Payless.  Under $35.  I was so sure that both of these were going to be sold out, because I’ve had them for over a month, but amazingly, they’ve gone undetected so far.  I can’t imagine that’ll last.

As a side note, these pictures are taken in our new backyard.  Ten minutes outside in the grass, and I got bitten by so many mosquitoes (like, dozens) that I had to cancel all of our plans for the night, take a Benadryl, and go sleep for 12 hours straight.  I got warned all the time before we moved here about Texas summer heat, but what they didn’t tell me?  THE MOSQUITOES.  I’ve even started to like the spiders in our backyard, because at least they kill the mosquitoes!

Forever 21 tank top, Madewell shorts, gifted Payless wedges, gifted By Boe bracelets (in black here and in pink here), gifted Ippolita lollipop necklace.

you’ll need to get more used to wearing bug spray more (ugh) and try to avoid dusk and dawn. Though it looks like you were out in the middle of the day in these pictures…but in case it was nearing the end of the day, just take note. They come out more then.

Katherine — I know!  Two problems — the middle of the day is hot and disgusting in July and August, and the light for photos is best in the hour before the sun sets!  I guess that still leaves bug spray…

LOVE, love, love that the top was only $11! Mosquitos are the worst – especially the next day when the red welts appear :( Sorry!

These look so much like a Steve Madden pair we sold at Nordstrom! The mix of colors + pattern on them is so fun.

Such vivid colors and patterns. The shoes and shirt are a perfect match to begin your journey in a new world. And at such an affordable price, why not wear that shirt once a week!
