work to play with the perfect fall pants!

As most of you guys know, I've practiced law full time for just about the entirety of my life as a blogger, so I've honestly become a bit of an expert at transitioning outfits from the workday to cute enough for an after-work event -- and let me tell you, it's not easy. Between layering blazers over dresses to bringing a change of clothes in the car (much easier in Texas than it was in NY!), I've probably used every trick in the book.
And now that I'm starting my own law practice, it's not getting any easier! Although I'm lucky enough to choose my own dress code for the days I'm not in court, you never know when a client might suddenly need a last-minute meeting, or when someone might invite you on a networking lunch. So, as much as I'd like to lounge around in shorts and flip flops all day, my workday staples are still a big necessity!
So I was thrilled when LOFT invited me and a bunch of my favorite bloggers to New York last week to try out their newly redesigned pants! Their idea was to take a workplace necessity (pants) and make them feminine, fun and versatile -- the kind of pants you'd feel professional in during the workday, and cute in for happy hour afterwards! They asked 10,000 women to try on more than 400 pairs of pants, and used that research to make tweaks to the shape, size, cut, and design of their Fall 2013 Pant Collection.
(Incidentally, during all that research, do you know what they found? Women find pants shopping more stressful than bathing suit shopping. Honestly, after suffering through many rounds of it myself, I fully believe it!)
So I wanted to put together the type of outfit that I'd wear to transition from work to play! If you have a more casual workplace, you could probably get away with the second outfit during the workday too (sadly, law firms aren't too into sequins, sigh, but maybe with a blazer over it?). The pants I chose were the Zoe fit in Ankle length -- I'm just on the cusp between petite and regular fits, but this slightly cropped length was perfect! No tailoring necessary, and they're the perfect length to show off your shoes! The Zoe fit is for girls that don't have a lot of curves (me, sigh), but if you're small-waisted, LOFT recommends the Julie fit, and if you're a normal waist-hip ratio, they recommend Marisa.
These pants are available at LOFT now, and if you buy a pair on Saturday (Sept 7th), they'll donate a piece of clothing to Fashion Delivers, a charity that provides clothing and household items to women in need! No better excuse to go shopping, if you ask me. :-)
