Ingredients
- 7 tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
Directions
- Heat your oven to 375 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, add the apples, lemon juice, and vanilla, then give everything a good toss so the slices are coated.
- Arrange the apple slices in a 9 x 12-inch baking pan, or one close to that size, spreading them into an even layer.
- In a separate bowl, stir together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and oatmeal. Work in the butter, then scatter the sugar mixture over the apples.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes, until the apples are soft and the topping has crisped up.
- Bring it to the table with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
