autumn sunset

November 10th, 2013

I took these photos a few weeks ago — but even then, this dress was a little baby-bump-hiding miracle the second I put it on.  I go back and forth on whether I’m ok with spending money on designer maternity clothes (generally I think it’s silly, but I’ll probably splurge on a few crucial or special pieces), so it was a huge boon when I found this very pregnancy-friendly dress at Forever 21!  At under $20, it took me about three seconds to snap it up.

I meant to post these photos on Friday, but we kind of had our lives turned upside down on Thursday afternoon.  Calvin, our sweet seven-year-old dog, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and his condition was so bad on Thursday that we weren’t sure he would make it through the night (he was fine on Thursday morning, but spent all day at the vet’s office and the stress of being there was just too much for his heart to handle).  He made it, though, and now we have him on medication that will hopefully prolong his life… but Chad and I are devastated.  Calvin has been our little guy since he was three months old, and I can’t imagine life without him.

Please, please send your thoughts and prayers his way — hopefully, if the medicine works well, he’ll have another year or two with us (I want him to meet the baby!) but the thought of not having him around is terrifying.

Forever 21 dress, gifted VINCA necklace, Alexis Bittar bracelet (similar), Charlootte Russe boots (similar).

The print of that dress is great!
And oh no, poor Calvin! I hope the medications help him!

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry about Calvin! I saw on Instagram that you said he’s doing well. Good! Our pug is CONSTANTLY in the pet hospital for one thing or another. He’s had a number of near death experiences since we got him 2 1/2 years ago (severe allergic reactions, internal bleeding, etc.) so I totally understand how you must have been feeling. But pets are resilient and they bounce back really well! Sending my prayers your way! Ps. Lovely dress! You can’t beat a good F21 find 🙂
