by the water

One tough thing about moving is that I suddenly have to come up with a new place to take all my outfit photos!  Our apartment in NYC had a private roofdeck that was basically the best thing ever for fashion blogging, and the (very narrow) balcony in our new apartment isn’t really the same.

So I took these up at the pool in our building — not a permanent solution (it’s too crowded and I get so embarrassed when other people are around when I’m doing outfit photos) but terrific to show you guys this new Lanvin top!

Shopping in Houston is a lot different than NYC — much more mall-focused and a lot less about finding the right neighborhoods and wandering around on foot.  But one of my most amazing discoveries so far has been this incredible consignment store, where you can find pieces like this amazing Lanvin top for $200!  I don’t know what season it’s from, so I’m not sure if I can technically call it vintage, but I know for sure that it wasn’t in department stores for anything less than $1000.  Vintage shopping definitely takes a little more digging than typical shopping trips to find exactly what you want, but now I’ve got the bug!

I can’t wait to see what else they get in!

Vintage Lanvin top, Theyskens’ Theory shorts, gifted Foley + Corinna Jet Set tote, Silvia Tcherassi for Payless booties.

You look great, as always! I know what you mean, I hate when people catch me in the midst of taking self-portraits. It is so embarrassing! Of course my husband finds it hilarious…

So gorgeous! (You AND the top!)

On the bright side, even if you don’t have your roof to take photos on, you have better weather in Texas (I’m assuming) so it’ll be more comfortable taking photos, at the very least.

So I’m totally stopping by payless on my way home from work today to pick up some boots! (happily the payless is across the street from my bus stop.)

I’m sure you already found these but River Oaks and inside the neighborhood behind the theater.  Also, down on lower Westheimer by Dunlavy has some random stuff.  In Rice Village, Langford Market and couple boutiques are cute.  And also, Fashion Week Houston is coming up… Nothing compare to NYC, but it’s something.

Love your Lanvin top! It’s so cute and an unbelievable find! The sheer shoulders and beaded bust is so pretty and elegant.

Those booties look awesome! How comfortable are they? I picked up the Isabel Toledo wedge booties, but they looked so cheap and hurt my feet terribly.

Mine were actually kind of painful too!  I figured it was just that mine hadn’t broken in yet — all my other Payless shoes are so comfortable!
