Ingredients
- 16 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing pan
- 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cups sour cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups cake flour, plus more for dusting pan
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 plus 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips
Directions
- Set a rack in the center of the oven, then heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat the inside of a 10 to 12-cup bundt pan with extra butter and flour it well.
- In a large bowl, stir together the butter, sugar, and salt until the mixture looks very creamy. Whisk in the eggs, 1 at a time, mixing each one in before adding the next. Add the sour cream and vanilla and whisk until blended.
- Add the flour, baking powder, and baking soda to the bowl. Stir just until the batter is nearly mixed, then fold in the chips until they are evenly worked in and you no longer see pale streaks of flour.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and bake until the cake is golden and barely firm, 40 to 50 minutes. Cool the cake in the pan for 45 minutes, then turn it out onto a serving plate or cooling rack.
