When you’re a new mom, life doesn’t slow down, whether you live in a small town or a big city! Which is why always being on the go is actually fabulous for new moms, whether you’re strolling to your favorite coffee shop or taking your little one to the library or a park!
It might seem like having a healthy holistic lifestyle and taking care good care of your skin is a challenge when you’re a new mom, but it’s actually pretty easy! Here are a few of my favorite tips.
Get Outside!
Whether you’re living in a concrete jungle or a suburban oasis, it’s important to get up and outside as soon as you and the baby feel ready for it. Taking a stroll around your neighborhood will give you both a change of scenery and some fresh air — just make sure to avoid the sun! For moms, Simple Skincare Protecting Light Moisturized with SPF 15 is a great option, and for babies, make sure to keep them covered with a hat or canopy until they’re old enough for baby sunscreen. Quick tip: Avoid the sun during its harshest hours, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., to ease the toll on your skin!
Kid-Focused Culture
One of the most exciting things about being a mom is exposing your child to new experiences, and cities offer great opportunities for kid-centered cultural experiences! Whether it’s story time at your local library or a music class filled with kid-friendly instruments and songs, city living offers wonderful opportunities for moms and babies! An added bonus: many awesome activities, like street fairs and community events, are free or charge modest admission for the whole family!
Don't Forget Mom!
As difficult as it is to schedule “mom” time, take advantage of city life for yourself as well! Maybe you’re not dancing on tables at the hottest club (really, who wants to be doing that anyways?), but take the time to schedule a yoga class, a massage, or just a quick lunch with friends.
Big cities and small ones often have great high schools and colleges, so ask around for recommendations for responsible and reliable babysitters and remember to take some time for yourself. A happy mommy makes for a happy baby!
