classic cool

March 15th, 2011

I’m always looking for classic pieces that will stay on-trend no matter what year it is, and my favorite thing about this outfit is that you could basically wear it at any point in the last twenty years, in just about any part of the country or the world, and you’d fit in just fine.

I almost never post photos in black and white, but since this outfit was heavy on the basics (the top is cream-colored and the jeans are classic faded denim), I thought it might be kind of fun.  As a little photo-editing trick, I always ramp up the contrast to give the photos some additional drama.

Levi’s was kind enough to give me a pair of their new CurveID jeans and I’m a little obsessed.  But, just note — they vary a LOT depending on the wash (another pair in the the same size, cut and style didn’t fit me even slightly) but this pair is basically perfect.  I’ve been looking for a new go-to pair of jeans for a while, and these are definitely them.

And remember when jeans used to cost $60 or so, instead of the crazy $200+ that’s become the standard?  Levi’s still do.

Madewell silk safari shirt, gifted Levis CurveID jeans, H&M cuff, gifted Raquelle Bianco bangle, Jessica Simpson wedges, gifted Rebecca Minkoff purse.

I love this post – I’ve got a thing for black and white pics. Super cute! And any time jeans don’t cost an arm and a leg… always a plus. 😉

I love this whole look.  Simple and totally cool!  I have a shirt that’s really similar to that Madewell one and I basically wear it every weekend.

Looking adorable, as always! I like the black and white – It’s nice to switch it up every now and then.

I remember buying my very first pair of designer jeans back in 2004… $70 for a classic pair of 7 for all Mankind. Now that same pair costs over $100 at Nordstrom! It’s sickening, I tell you. Maybe I’ll try Levi’s again. I too have noticed that Levi’s doesn’t always run true to size, which is a little frustrating. But yours look great!

Love these pics- classic, comfortable and stylish. I might just have to go and get a pair of staple Levi’s. Lovely post!
