Double Dark Chocolate Brownie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks

Directions

  1. Set your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), then grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Add the dark chocolate chips or chunks to a medium bowl with 1 cup of the semi sweet chocolate chips, and put the bowl aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the melted butter and salt with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
  4. Mix in the baking powder and flour only until the batter comes together. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold the reserved chocolate mixture into the batter gently, along with the remaining semi sweet chocolate chips, until the chocolate is spread through the batter.
  6. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan, then smooth it out with a spatula or spoon.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick poked into the center comes out clean except for a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool the brownies completely before slicing them into bars or squares.
