Ingredients
- 4 fajita-size low-carb flour tortillas, toasted
- 2 tsp. olive oil, for brushing baking sheet
- About 1 cup thinly sliced lettuce
- 1/2 cup finely grated cheese, more or less to taste
- 2 avocados
- 4 tsp. fresh-squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 tsp. Green Tabasco Sauce or other hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Pinch of chili powder
Directions
- Heat your oven or toaster oven to 450F/230C, then brush olive oil over a baking sheet. Arrange the tortillas on the pan and toast them until they’re firm with a little browning, about 5 minutes. Flip them a couple of times as they toast, and keep an eye on them because they can move from golden to burned fast. Set the tortillas aside for a few minutes to cool.
- Cut the avocado in half, remove the seed, and discard it. Scoop the avocado flesh into a small bowl, add the lime juice right away, and mash and stir until the lime is worked evenly through the avocado to help prevent browning.
- Stir in Green Tabasco Sauce (or other hot sauce), salt, and chili powder. Use a light hand with the chili powder, since too much can make the guacamole turn brown.
- To put the tostadas together, spread a thin layer of Easy Guacamole over each toasted tortilla shell. Add the shredded lettuce, then finish with the finely grated cheese.
- If you’d like, add sliced olives, sliced green onions, chopped tomatoes, or salsa. The simplest version is just guacamole, lettuce, and grated cheese.
