Our Favorite Area Rug
Between spilled juice, muddy paws and LEGO on the floor, our rugs take a beating. The area rug we chose is the AMADA 8x10 washable rug: the whole thing goes in the washing machine, it's soft enough for a playroom floor, and the price doesn't make spills stressful. This is the rug we actually live on. The whole thing goes in the washing machine, so juice spills and muddy paws aren't a crisis, and it's soft enough for a playroom floor.

Washability. With kids and pets, a rug you can toss in the machine or hose off is worth more than one that looks perfect for a month. Backing. A non-slip backing keeps the rug from sliding when kids run across it and makes it safer for grandparents. Pile height. Low pile is easier to vacuum and to wash; plush pile is cozier for floor play but holds onto crumbs. Size. Measure the room and the furniture. An 8x10 suits most living rooms and playrooms, while a 9x12 or 10x14 can sit under a full sectional.
