Our Favorite Baby Monitor
For peace of mind at nap time, the baby monitor we chose is the HelloBaby — the long-range video reaches all the way to the backyard. Here's what we bought, plus a few others we seriously considered.

Babysense PRO Full HD 5.5" Split Screen Baby Monitor with 2 Cameras, 6-Color Night Light, White Noise, Sound & Light Machine, 20-Hour Battery, Hack-Proof Non-WiFi Secure Connection
This is the monitor we actually use. The split screen watches two rooms at once — the baby’s crib and the little ones’ room — the battery runs about 20 hours, and there’s no app or Wi-Fi to fuss with, just a secure closed connection.

Check priceWhy we chose it
Our house is not big on square footage but it is very big on people, and nap time happens in one room while life keeps roaring along in all the others. We needed to be able to put the baby down upstairs and still hear a peep from the kitchen, the backyard, or the far end of the basement where the middle kids stage their loudest projects. A monitor that dropped signal halfway across the house was worse than no monitor at all.
The one we rely on is the Babysense PRO split-screen monitor, and the appeal was refreshingly old-fashioned: it just works. It comes with two cameras, so one screen watches the baby’s crib and the little ones’ room at the same time — a quiet superpower in a house with this many bedtimes. The battery runs something like twenty hours, the built-in white noise and night light replaced the separate sound machine we used to haul around, and — this was the clincher — there is no app, no Wi-Fi login, and no account to set up. The connection is closed and hack-proof, and one fewer thing on our crowded network was a relief.
We did look at the Wi-Fi camera monitors that stream to your phone, but the idea of the baby’s video living on some app, plus the lag and the dropouts when our network gets crowded, steered us away. The Babysense beat them on simplicity and coverage: a dedicated screen that turns on instantly, two rooms watched at once, and no monthly anything. For grandparents and older kids on monitor duty too, being able to just pick it up and see the baby, no password required, made it the easy call.
