German Pork Burger
Juicy pork burgers seasoned with caraway, pepper, parsley and sour cream, served on toasted buns with tangy sauerkraut and whole grain mustard.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground pork
- 1 tablespoon Kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon ground juniper berries
- 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
- Sauerkraut and whole grain mustard to top burgers
- Burger buns
Directions
- Use your hands to work the salt, ground juniper berries, caraway seeds, and pepper into the ground pork. Add the chopped parsley and sour cream, and mix again until everything is evenly combined. Shape the mixture into patties, anywhere from 1/4 pound to 1/2 pound each.
- Warm a teaspoon or two of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Put the burger patties in the pan and let them cook slowly, 4 to 5 minutes on each side, until the centers reach 155 degrees F.
- If you’d rather grill them, cook the burgers on a grill over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side, until they’re cooked through.
- Take the burgers off the heat, then toast the buns on the pan or grill.
- Set each burger on a toasted bun half, then finish with a dollop of whole grain mustard and a sprinkling of sauerkraut.
