godiva and top chef

November 17th, 2010

Have you guys been watching Top Chef Just Desserts?  When I was invited to this event last week, I was sort of embarrassed to admit that I’d actually never seen an episode!  It’s particularly ridiculous because I *love* Top Chef, and I love desserts even more — and yet somehow, I’d never even realized that this show had started!

Godiva threw this event to celebrate their Quickfire challenge on last week’s episode of the show, where the contestants each created a selection of chocolates that symbolized different turning points in their lives.  Morgan (below) was my favorite pretty early on into the episode (passionfruit!  bittersweet chocolate!  top chef crushing his soul!  good stuff!) and I wasn’t surprised at all that he won.  Even more exciting, after the win, he walked into the room, along with platters of the chocolates he’d created, which are part of Godiva’s holiday lineup.  Absolutely delicious — I brought home a box for Chad, and it was empty within about 24 hours.

The other judges, including zomg Gail Simmons love her, also put in an appearance, and the whole room was filled with incredibly decadent chocolate goodies.  Their walnut caramel brownie may literally be the best thing I’ve ever tasted, and I’m going to try desperately to recreate it on Sugarlaws for the holidays!

OMG. Everything looks so… heavenly! I’ve been on Godiva probation for almost 6 months. Once I start, it’s hard to stop! And I’m like you – I didn’t even know TCJD had even started, even though my TV is glued to Bravo. Time to set up the DVR… 🙂

Very, very jealous of all the chocolate you had access to.

Those chocolates look amazing. I really love the look of the frosting on the cupcakes.

Dream come true to just be in a room with all those chocolates! When I lived in Japan I was surprised to find so many beautiful chocolates like these (but green tea, black sesame-flavored, etc.) in the food section at the bottom of every department store! I’ll have to check out the show.

Forgive me if I missed something, but do you still do food posts?  It seems as though all posts lately are about what you’re wearing or events you were invited to.  Your last real recipe post was November 8 (not counting that crudite post).  It is your blog and I’m certainly not criticizing your posting choices — just wondering as someone who enjoyed the recipe posts and came here in search of new/fun recipes.

That looks like the most delicious event ever! And Gail Simmons IS pretty much amazing. Yum. I’m excited to see that recipe for the Walnut Caramel Brownies, though I’m pretttttty sure they are definitely going to break my diet!

My favorite necklace is Flowers are a Girl’s best friend.  These necklaces are beautiful.  Sometimes I really wish I lived in NYC for all the different fashion.  Living in the Mountains of Colorado can deprive you of just the simple things 🙂
