Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound tomatillos, peeled and cut in half
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 small onion, roughly chopped
- 1 serrano pepper
- Kosher salt
- 1 recipe Best Basic Guacamole
Directions
Turn the broiler to high. Arrange the tomatillos, garlic, onion, and pepper on a sturdy rimmed baking sheet lined with foil. Broil them without stirring until the tops are deeply charred, about 15 minutes. Turn the vegetables over with a spatula, then broil again until they are fully tender and nicely blackened in spots, about 15 minutes longer. Move everything to a food processor and pulse into a coarse puree. Add kosher salt to taste, then cool the mixture to room temperature. Gently fold it into the guacamole, and serve right away with warm tortilla chips.
