Ingredients
- 20 ounces flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 5 tablespoons dry milk
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 cup chilled butter
- 1 can of sparkling lemon-lime soda
- 1 container sour cream
- 1/2 – 1 pound of ham
- Mustard, optional
- Pickles, optional
Directions
- Set your oven to 425 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, stir the flour, baking powder, dry milk, and salt together until everything is evenly blended.
- Work the butter into the dry mixture until you have rough, crumbly bits. Pour in the soda and add the sour cream, then stir just until the mixture turns into a loose dough.
- Tip the dough onto a floured surface and knead it gently until it holds together. Roll it into a square that is 1/2 inch thick, then cut it into even pieces.
- Arrange the pieces on a prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until they are golden. Once the biscuits are cool enough for you to pick up, split them open and fill them with ham, adding a little mustard and a few pickles if you like. Serve the ham and biscuits with hot, sweet milky tea.
