inspiration from a fellow kate

Have you guys been following Kate Middleton's outfits from their recent trip to Canada? I'll admit, not a day goes by when I don't find some excuse to click on a headline and see what she's wearing. I have a few favorites already, but when I saw this outfit, I knew I had the perfect way to make it a little more everyday:

I loved the way she took a demure outfit and gave it a little punch with some bright red accessories. Red heels might be a little Dorothy-esque when mixed with the wrong outfit, but seeing this inspired me to dig mine out again.

Someday I'm going to work my way up to amazing hats like hers, but for this outfit, a bright red necklace would be a little more New York-appropriate.

Sad story about this necklace actually -- I bought it months ago in a slightly deeper red color and fell completely in love with it. I think it was maybe $25 from Topshop when I got it, and I wore it everywhere for about a week, until the clasp snapped. Since it was only about a week old, I took it back to the store hoping to exchange it for a new one.

They were totally fine about taking the necklace back, but the one that I'd bought was completely sold out. They still had it in this fuchsia-red color and I got it anyways, but I've never loved this color as much as I loved the first one. Maybe they'll re-release it someday?

Also, as a side note, I love this this outfit mixes Hermes and Forever 21. And both look great!

Last, happy anniversary to me and Chad! Two years ago today was a very special day. :-)
