Ingredients
- 4 homemade meatballs
- 1/2 cup homemade marinara
- 1 medium hearty roll, soft bread won't cut it!
- 1 slice provolone
Directions
- Set your oven to broil at 400 degrees. Put the meatballs and marinara sauce in a microwave-safe dish and heat them.
- Cut your roll lengthwise. Spoon the meatballs onto the roll, then add any marinara left in the dish over the top.
- Lay the cheese over the sandwich. I like to cut the slice in half so it fits better over a long, narrow roll, the way sub shop cheese does.
- Set the sandwich open-faced on a cookie sheet, then slide it under the broiler. Check that the oven rack leaves a few inches between the sandwich and the heating element. Broil until the cheese has melted and the roll’s edges are browned and crisp. Grab napkins and dig in.
