off we go

February 3rd, 2014

I thought these photos were fitting, since this week may be the last time I travel for quite some time!  Chad and I didn’t do a “babymoon” trip — this year was just too busy — and truth be told, I’ve been kind of a homebody for the last six months.  But I’m super excited for one last Fashion Week before I go into full mommy-mode!

(Actually, I have this fantasy where I take the baby with me for September Fashion Week… I think he should be exposed early and often!  But we’ll see how well the reality of having a four-month-old fits with my imagination!)

Houston has been beautiful lately — it’s hard to believe that our winter is almost over (and even harder to believe that I took these photos in the middle of January).  I’m still getting used to the idea that spring starts in February, but on days like this, I can’t really complain one bit.

And a quick word about this dress: I own it in two different colors (see it in blue here), and it’s one of my favorites in my whole closet.  The fit is perfect, but it’s just as cute under a blazer for a little more coverage — it’s swingy and silky and just so fun!

My husband is in Houston on business for a week and a half, what are some “must-dos” that you’d recommend?

Eat!!!  If he has expense account meals (or if he just wants a splurge), Underbelly and Oxheart are amazing!  And my favorites are Ibiza (midtown), Sorrel (upper kirby), Benjy’s (Rice Village) and Ruggles Green (upper kirby).  Plus there’s amazing bbq at Goode Company, and I love the tacos at Torchy’s (Chad and I are there almost every weekend)!

For culture, if he wants, there’s a great symphony and the ballet is supposed to be wonderful, although honestly, I haven’t been to either yet.  The Menil collection is an amazing museum — admission is free, and they also have the Rothko Chapel!  The grounds are gorgeous, too, if it’s nice out.

And obviously, he should trek over to the Galleria to buy you a little something! 🙂

    Hope this helps!  xo

    Hi Katy,

I love your style!  Just wondering what size you got in this dress?  I have been wanting to order one for AGES but living in Australia, makes it trickier to return if I pick the wrong size…

    Thank you,
