1 cup tart applesauce, sieved

3 tablespoons lemon juice

1 cup sugar

4 eggs, slightly beaten

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

One 9-inch unbaked pastry shell


Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Whisk together applesauce, lemon juice, sugar, eggs, butter, nutmeg, and salt. Pour into pastry shell. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 275 degrees and bake until pie is fully set, about 1 hour longer.
