Ingredients

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled slightly

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk or sour cream

3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper. In a medium heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler. Set aside to cool slightly. In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk or sour cream, vanilla extract, and egg until combined. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, butter, salt, baking soda, cocoa powder, and flour until combined. Add the melted chocolate to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Slowly add in the wet ingredients and mix until just combined . Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool completely before serving. Enjoy!.
