Ingredients

1 pound salmon, skinless and boneless

1/4 cup teriyaki sauce

2 tablespoons pineapple juice

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 hamburger buns or slider buns, toasted

1 avocado, sliced thin

Lettuce leaves

Directions

In a large pot, stir together brown sugar, pineapple juice, water, teriyaki sauce, and soy sauce over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Bring to a full boil, then lower heat to a vigorous simmer. Stir in the rice vinegar, onion, garlic, and ginger. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until reduced by half and syrupy, about 30 minutes. Set aside to cool.
