1 9-inch unbaked pie crust

3 cups apple cider

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1/4 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 tablespoons butter, melted

2 large eggs, lightly beaten

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Prepare the butter and lard, if using. Cut the butter into 1/2-inch cubes , and cut the lard into small pieces. Return them to the fridge or freezer to cool.
