Ingredients
1 pound elbow macaroni
4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, grated
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions
Put the macaroni in a large bowl and cover with the water. Let the pasta soak for an hour, stirring occasionally; then drain it and use as follows. It will finish cooking in the sauce.
