Ingredients

4 large grapefruits

2 lemons

5 cups of sugar

1/4 teaspoon of butter

1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg

Directions

Begin by preparing the grapefruits and lemons. Peel the grapefruits and lemons, then cut them into small pieces. Remove any seeds or pith from the fruit. Place the fruit in a large pot and add 5 cups of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of butter. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Increase heat to medium-high and bring the marmalade back to a boil for 15 minutes or until it reaches 220°F on a candy thermometer . Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes before ladling into sterilized jars or containers. Allow to cool completely before sealing with lids or covers. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
