8 oz fresh strawberries
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1 Tbsp cold water
1 tsp lemon juice
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 Tbsp granulated sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 Tbsp Raw Turbinado Sugar
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
7 Tbsp butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup buttermilk
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, sour cream, vanilla extract, egg, and 1 cup of granulated sugar until combined. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and salt until light and fluffy. Add the baking soda and baking powder and mix until combined. Slowly add in the flour, mixing until just combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined . Pour batter into prepared cake pan and spread evenly with a spatula or spoon. Sprinkle with raw turbinado sugar.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting/decorating with strawberries .
