signs of spring

May 9th, 2011

I got out of the city this weekend, which was actually pretty amazing.  Sometimes I feel like I’ve lived in New York for so long that I’ve forgotten that most of the world is surrounded by green leaves and blooming flowers at this time of year.  My parents don’t live too far outside the city, but it’s a whole different world when spring comes along.

Which is partly why this Banana Republic dress was such a perfect fit — I wanted something in a loose, breezy fabric that truly embraced springtime.  A floral maxi dress could be borderline cutesy, but this one is just purely gorgeous.

And getting out of the city meant I could actually carry this adorable shoulder bag.  Usually in NYC, I need an extra pair of flats on me at all time, plus my iPad or Kindle for the subway — which makes a giant bag a necessity.  I always forget that when you drive everywhere, you can carry so much less stuff around!  There’s something so chic about a tiny bag (especially this one), and I loved carrying it.

Gifted Banana Republic dress, necklace borrowed from my sister, gifted Brahmin Anytime Mini purse, Forever 21 sunglasses, gifted Nine West espadrilles.

Awww, you are too cute, let me just say first! Being comfortable is A MUST, and that dress you can wear all day long without feeling restricted & stuffy. To be as pretty as it is also is a plus! Dont you just feel so feminine in it?

Love the dress…beautiful Maxi- And yes…its true..smaller bags in suburbia…but I have now reached the point where I no longer carry a diaper bag and just shove diapers and cups and goldfish snacks in my purse…so mine is still a shoulder breaking ridiculously large bag…oh well:) maybe some day….

Beautiful, as usual! I love maxi dresses but feel like they might make my 5 foot 4 and 3/4 stature look stocky…gorgeous pattern!

Love this look on you! I feel like I’m doomed to carry a huge bag everywhere I go ’cause my camera and I are attached at the hip (and usually a book as well…).

It’s so fun to see you in a different photo-environment than the usual rooftop shots!

It was fun for me too!  Sometimes I really wish we had a car so I could get out of the city for photos like these more!  I love our roofdeck, but it’s so fun to have a variety every once in a while!

Love the maxi! I definitely will be investing in a few this week as I prepare for a month long trip to the Middle East starting next week!

Loving the outfit, but especially the maxi! I don’t own any yet but I’ve seen so many fab ladies wearing them I think I need to get one!

I usually end up with two big bags so I have enough room for gym clothes and laptop and camera, etc…  I totally agree about driving means smaller bags, and much less sensible footwear.

I was reading People Magazine last night, and apparently Kate Middleton bought the EXACT same dress in that shopping spree she had before her wedding. As a Royal Wedding nut like me, I thought that was something you’d really like to know!

Ahhh, you just made my day!  No wonder it’s already sold out online!  Is there a pic of her in it?!

  • 19 Sonia // May 11, 2011 at 11:29 am

It’s on Page 214 of the People’s Special Collector’s Edition of the Royal Wedding! She’s not wearing it, but it is under the title “Get What Kate Got!” I’ll tweet you a picture of the Article Page!
