style: military chic

January 10th, 2011

There were a few items that I really felt like I couldn’t live without this holiday season, and the top thing on that list was an amazing army jacket.  I know I’m hitting the very late end of this trend, but when I saw this Aqua version for $76 on sale at Bloomingdales, I just couldn’t resist.Ā  The dress underneath it is actually a nightgown, so I’d never wear it by itself, but I’ve been in need of a simple black slip-type dress for underneath other outfits — all of my black dresses are actually quite un-simple and don’t really work for layered looks.

But then, as these things tend to go, a few days after New Year’s I found this version at Anthropologie, and now I’ve gone from zero to two army jackets in my closet in just a few weeks.  Hopefully this look stays current for a while!

Also, as you guys may have noticed, I’ve been trying to mix in some photos where I’m not smiling — please excuse a few weird faces as I learn what I’m doing.  šŸ™‚

Aqua jacket, Gap slip, gifted DANNIJO necklace, gifted Charlotte Russe boots.

Such a great find!  And I’m obsessed with the sweet lipstick and punky hair paired with this boyish jacket.  May be my favorite look of yours so far!

Love the ponytail! Agree with Gabby.
P.S. I had the same conversation with the bf this weekend (re: not smiling in photos). He kept telling me to smile, though I didn’t want to say I was trying to be a cool supermodel. Such an awkward thing when you’re used to smiling šŸ˜‰

Love your jacket, Katy!!! It is so hard to not smile in pictures. I feel like I look so silly when I don’t.
