Oil-packed tuna, mashed avocado, lime, cilantro, and red onion fill avocado shells for a cool, creamy meal with bright, fresh flavor.
Prep 15 min · Makes 2 servings

Ingredients
- 1 can tuna packed in olive oil
- 1 large ripe avocado
- 1/4 cup very finely chopped red onion
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro
- 2 tsp. olive oil
- 1 T Mayo
- 1 – 2 T fresh-squeezed lime juice
- Sea salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
- Additional lime for serving, if desired
Directions
- Set a colander in the sink, drain one can of tuna into it, and use a fork to loosen the tuna into smaller pieces.
- Chop the red onion and cilantro finely. If you prefer, especially if you are skipping the cilantro, green onion can stand in for the red onion.
- Slice the avocado in half.
- Scoop out most of the flesh, leaving just a thin layer against the peel so the avocado halves hold their shape. Transfer the scooped avocado to a wide, shallow bowl that gives you room to mash.
- Mash the avocado very well with a large fork.
- Stir the olive oil, mayo, lime juice, salt, and pepper into the mashed avocado.
- Add the drained tuna to the avocado mixture and combine.
- Fold in the chopped cilantro and red onion gently.
- Taste and adjust with salt and fresh-ground black pepper.
- Spoon the filling back into the avocado halves and eat.
- If you’d like, serve with a generous lime wedge for squeezing at the table.
