Valentine’s Day

February 14th, 2008

So there I was, sitting in my apartment, the night before Valentine’s Day, when my doorman calls up to tell me I have a flower delivery!  Being a typical girl who loves flowers and loves Valentine’s Day, I was quite excited.

But not nearly as excited as I was when I read the card.  “This is your first surprise.  Your second surprise will be arriving before midnight, don’t fall asleep.  And don’t worry about work tomorrow — I’ve taken care of that.”  Yes, it didn’t take me too long to put two and two together — my boyfriend, who I more or less expected to be visiting me this weekend, was coming to visit me several days early!

And he kept me guessing until the last possible moment.  He gave me my Valentine’s Day cards, and then some coffee he’d brought me from New Orleans, and finally produced from his suitcase a wrapped package.  I opened it with absolutely no idea what it was, and inside found two Paris guidebooks!

“I thought we could read them on the plane,” he told me.  “That is, on the plane to Paris, because we’re flying there tomorrow night!”

So, to make a somewhat long, incredibly surprising story extremely short, I am leaving for Paris in a few hours for Valentine’s Day weekend!!!  I am too, too, too excited, totally and completely surprised, and cannot wait for the minutes to pass until we get on the plane!

I won’t be updating until we get back, but I will take hundreds of pictures (I am dragging Chad to go buy an extra memory card for my camera as soon as I finish this post), and hopefully will have lots of French foods to inspire me for future recipes!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!!!

Whaaaaaat!? You have a winner there. I had to pick out my own present because my husband says Valentine’s day is “too hard”. Then again he got me this computer for Christmas. Checks and balances…
