Watermelon Chile Lime Mocktail

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, for the rim
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 cup chilled cubed seedless watermelon
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce chilled strong green tea
  • 1/2 ounce agave nectar
  • 2 ounces chilled sparkling water
  • 1 cup ice, plus more for serving
  • 1 small watermelon wedge, for garnish

Directions

  1. Pour the tablespoon of lime juice into a small saucer. In a second saucer, stir together the kosher salt, sugar, and ancho chili powder. Dip the rim of your glass into the lime juice, then into the chile mixture, turning gently so it sticks.
  2. Blend the watermelon until smooth, then strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the pulp. You should have about two ounces of fresh watermelon juice.
  3. Add the watermelon juice, lime juice, green tea, agave nectar, and ice to a cocktail shaker or lidded jar. Shake until very cold.
  4. Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice. Strain the drink into the glass, top with sparkling water, and give it one gentle stir. Garnish with the watermelon wedge and serve right away.
