What a weekend.

So, on Saturday afternoon, after a few weeks of being touch-and-go, my laptop finally conked out.  I’ve had this happen to a few computers over the years, and there is no worse feeling than being suddenly without that piece of technology that runs your whole life.  Between that laptop and my iPhone, I’m completely lost without them.

The good news is, I’d been having enough trouble with the computer over the past few weeks that I realized how important it was to back up everything — so, amazingly enough, I didn’t lose a single picture.  I’m a little stressed about the whole thing, but it could have been so much worse.  The computer is out of warranty and getting it fixed would have been a very expensive pain in the butt, so I’ve decided to take the plunge and order a new one.

SO.  Onto happier news — this Kate Spade dress!  I love that it’s a little bit vintage-y, and that it’s different from what I usually go for.  I’m always looking for outfits that can make that (tricky) transition from work to a after-work fashion event, and this dress absolutely does the trick.

And is it just me, or could you guys totally see this on one of the Mad Men characters?  Maybe without the red patent platform heels. :-)

Don’t forget to enter the COVERGIRL NatureLuxe giveaway!

Before I read the post and just looked at first photo, I thought for sure this dress was vintage.

Lorelei — Me too!  I bought it for a black tie thing we went to last year (I wore my mom’s old dress, so I figured I could splurge on the cuff)!  It literally goes with everything I own.  :-)

    Thank you!!

Katy — You justify your style splurges exactly the same way I do! :D
It’s like since I only spend a little bit on one thing, I can spend twice as much on the next thing.
    Totally logical!

This is pretty much the outfit Gwen Stefani wears in the “Don’t Speak” video. Love it!

Katy, speaking of work, when I began visiting your blog, you were an attorney.  Are you still practicing law or are you a fulltime fashion correspondent / blogger now?

Adorable Katy..tres adorable!  The red pumps.. or should I say HEELS, paired with the blue dress.. you are the poster girl for new/vintage!

And Katie (a reader from the beginning!) — yes, I still practice law.  I try not to write about it on Sugarlaws because I keep it kind of on the DL for the most part (too many horror stories about bloggers getting fired, etc).

Sugarlaws does, thankfully, make a good income after many years of hard work, and if the right opportunities fell into place, someday I might consider making it my full time job.  But for now, even though I pull my hair out trying to balance things a lot of the time, I’m still making it work doing both.

So that’s my long response to your short question. :-)
