Ingredients
- 1 tsp butter
- 3 Tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup bread pieces
- Berries
- Sliced bananas
- Nuts
- Powdered sugar
- Peanut butter
- Chocolate chips
Directions
- Drop the butter into a large mug and heat it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds, stopping once it has melted. Whisk in the milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and the egg until the mixture is evenly combined.
- Add the bread pieces and stir gently, just until they have all soaked up some of the egg and milk mixture. Use a light hand here, since rough stirring can make the bread break apart. Pause for about 1 minute so the bread can absorb the liquid.
- Cook the mug in the microwave for 60-90 seconds, until the mixture has firmed up. In a 1250 watt microwave, 70-80 seconds is usually just right. The exact timing may vary a bit depending on your microwave and the size of your mug.
- Eat it right away, plain or finished with the toppings you like best.
