and this is january

January 9th, 2012

The weather in Texas has been just incredible this week — it was 77 degrees yesterday, and I even had a little free time to soak it up!  This dress was one of my favorite Christmas presents (from my very stylish mom), and I’m trying to figure out how to possibly work it into my substantially-less-than-77-degrees NYFW wardrobe.  Any ideas?

After last weekend’s pity party over how crazy the next two months are going to be, I’m feeling SO much better.  I’m so lucky to have these amazing opportunities, and to be able (so far) to balance them as well as I’ve done!  I’m just going to buckle down, ditch my reality television addiction for the next seven weeks, and even try to enjoy myself a little!

Last thing — I’m usually such a platform-heel girl, but how cute are these pointy pumps?  They’re almost enough to convince me to forgo the extra inches of height and make the switch for good.  If nothing else, it’s nice to mix it up a little!

Madewell dress, Chanel bag, Jimmy Choo heels, Ben Amun bracelet.

The dress is beautiful on you! How about adding a black faux-fur coat, black tights and some sort of chain or statement necklace for NYFW? Just a thought 🙂

This dress is beautiful and you look so so adorable. Every once in a while a simple, beautiful dress is all you need to stand out in a crowd.

This is such a sweet dress.  Glad to know I am not the only one throwing little pity parties at the beginning of 2012.  I was supposed to be more positive this year:) But you know some days its your party and you gotta cry if you want to.  Happy Monday!

The dress is adorable! I constantly go back and forth between platforms and pumps… can never decide which one I prefer.

Very pretty and brings out a glow. I would wear an extremely lightweight ( merino wool? cashmere?) long-sleeved sweater underneath. Perhaps in an ivory or dove gray color? Or fuzzy mohair cardigan in same colors? This month’s Instyle Magazine showed a strapless with a sweater underneath. Just match the weights of the fabric as much as possible and you should be good to go.

That dress is super pretty. I bet it’d look really cute with black tights and black pumps and maybe a patterned cardigan.

Lovely dress and lovely shade of petal pink! Florida weather is very much like your Texas weather, so I relate! As for wearing it in “real” winter weather, maybe a luxurious-looking black velvet coat? I wore something similar in NYC and was fine 🙂

Cute outfit & I’m way jealous of your 77 degree weather. What about adding a blazer & black tights for NYFW? Could be very cute!

That dress is gorgeous.  It seems very garden party to me, or perhaps strolling around Paris 🙂

I am not a heels person because I don’t have the confidence… one day maybe 🙂
