beauty: pillow rollers

January 21st, 2011

It is a universal fact of life that all straight-haired girls want curly hair, and all curly-haired girls want straight hair.

I sort of consider myself part of both of those categories.  My hair is naturally wavy, but not very (this old post is about what it does if I don’t straighten or curl it), so I tend to go to one extreme or the other.

Straightening my hair takes the least time and lasts the longest, so that tends to be my default.  This pricey but amazing flatiron is my go-to product — in cost-per-use, it’s worth every penny.

But I was ordering a few things from CVS a few days ago, and on a whim I added these to my cart.  For $11.99, I figured they were worth a try — and I think I’m going to get a lot of use out of them.  They were super easy to use, and I didn’t get the crinkle that I sometimes get with regular curlers.

Above are the during- and after-roller shots — what do you guys think?  What’s your go-to styling method?

ah, I have never seen these…and I am totally going to get and try them.
I have the same thing….slightly wavy hair that got a BIT wavier after being pregnant and stayed…dunno?
I usually straight iron as well….but with spring/summer approaching I have to embrace the wave, and this might be a great idea on how to.
    thanks for the tip!

Your hair is a lot like mine.  I love how your hair came out, and plan on trying these soon.  Thanks for sharing.

We have similar hair textures, in between wavy and straight. I used to go the straight hair route for years, then a couple months back I cut off 8 inches from my hair (!!) and I’ve been wearing it wavy ever since – it’s super easy to style now, almost wash and wear: I just scrunch in some mousse while still wet, use my fingers to twirl sections, and let it air dry. I still miss my long hair but I am slowly falling in love with my wavy “short” hair!
PS – your hair looks great 🙂

Darling! I’m the same way- wavy. Yes I always wish for silky straight hair. 🙂 Mine is easier to go curly though. When I usually do my hair now, I just blow dry and use a 1 1/2 barrel curl instead of straightening.

I used to have a bigger curling iron, but I threw it away in my beauty cabinet cleanse a few weeks ago!  The curls never lasted more than half an hour — how do you make them stay?

Must try these! I am usually too lazy to do much to my hair (as you can tell from my pictures!), but you’ve totally inspired me!

We used to have a set of hot rollers from the 1980s that my mom would use to do my hair for dances in high school… These soft rollers look fun.

Ha!  I know, me too — I let it air dry and then flatiron because that takes the least time of any method!

    The waves look so perfect!
I swear by my straightener, but it’s so damaging to my hair. If I’m not going anywhere special I’ll just pull it up into a messy bun.

I have those rollers and I love them. I put them on before bed and in the morning 3 minutes and I’m off to work. Works best for me if I use big stands of hair. I usually have to use the curling iron for a little finishing touch and voila !

I like to use rollers, but I have to use them carefully… or else.. I’ll look like Ronald Mc Donald…
