Ingredients
- 2/3 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup bulgur wheat
- 2 1/4 cup white whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup ground oatmeal
- 2 T wheat bran
- 2 T flaxseed meal
- 2 T vital wheat gluten
- 1 T dough enhancer
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 T olive oil
- 1 T agave nectar
- 1 T brown sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 2/3 tsp. yeast
Directions
- Add the ingredients in the order your bread machine recommends. In an Oster Bread Machine, the liquids go in first, followed by the dry ingredients you’ve mixed together in a bowl. Make a small hollow in the flour and add the yeast there.
- Use the whole wheat setting. Keep an eye on the dough during the first mixing cycle; if it isn’t coming together into a ball, add a little more flour or water, a bit at a time. You want the dough to form a firm ball that’s just slightly sticky. Depending on your humidity and how carefully you measure, you may need a few teaspoons of extra water.
- For the whole wheat cycle, an Oster Bread Machine takes 3 hours 40 minutes. The bread is delicious hot or cold, and it makes great toast too.
