Ingredients
- Water
- Cold water
Directions
- Start with the sushi rice. Set a medium saucepan over high heat and bring 2 cups of cold water to a boil. Stir in 1 cup of sushi rice, then turn the heat down to low. Cook gently for 15 minutes, until the rice has taken up all the water.
- While the rice cooks, make the seasoning. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup of rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt, stirring until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved. Set it aside.
- When the rice is ready, spoon it into a large bowl. Pour the sushi vinegar over the rice as you stir with a wooden spoon or spatula, working gently so you do not mash it. Let the rice cool for 10 minutes before building the California Roll Sushi Bowls.
- For the bowls, slice 1 sheet of nori seaweed into thin ribbons. Add the nori to each bowl with avocado slices and cucumber slices, and include crab meat or imitation crab if you’d like. Spoon the cooled sushi rice on top and serve.
