From our family

Why we chose it

Autumn at our place means leaves — heaps of them, plus the grass clippings, the driveway crumbs, and the mysterious debris that six kids track everywhere. For years we fought all of it with a rake and a lot of complaining, until the afternoon our 8-year-old asked why we did not just have one of those blower things like the neighbors. Fair question, honestly. We were doing it the hard way out of pure habit.

The one we brought home was the Greenworks 40V Leaf Blower/Sweeper, and it turned an hour of raking into a quick lap around the yard. It is cordless, so nobody trips over a cable while chasing leaves, and it is light enough that even our oldest can clear the porch and the driveway without wearing himself out. For sweeping the garage, herding leaves into a pile, and blasting grass clippings off the walk, it has more than enough push for our everyday messes.

We looked at the corded and gas options too, but a cord felt limiting for the size of our lot, and gas meant fumes and upkeep we did not want with little ones underfoot. At around eighty dollars, the battery Greenworks hit the sweet spot — quiet enough that it does not wake the baby, simple enough that Dad hands it off to the older kids as a chore they actually enjoy, and part of a battery system we can grow into. It is not the most powerful blower on earth, but for a family yard, it is exactly enough.
